What we collect, and why
fron.in has no login, no accounts, and no purchase flow. Here is everything we actually collect today. Last updated 27 Jul 2026.
// 1. Analytics
We run Google Analytics, a third-party service operated by Google. It collects usage data in your browser — pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you arrived — and may set cookies to do so. We also record aggregate interaction events: search-query length and result count (not the words you type), filters used, selected product or seller identifiers, outbound seller clicks, sharing method, and submission attempts. Submission names, emails, URLs, notes, and other field contents are not sent to Google Analytics. We use these events to improve catalogue coverage and navigation. Because Google Analytics is a third party, Google processes this data under its own terms. Retention follows the Google Analytics settings for this property; we do not export or resell this data.
// 2. Submissions
If you use the submission form, we store what you type in our database: the submission type, your name and email (both optional), the product or business name, an optional URL and category, and your notes. We use it only to act on your submission — verify a product, fix an error, or handle a listing claim — and to reply if you left an email. We keep submissions for as long as they are useful as an audit trail of why the directory changed; ask us to delete yours and we will.
// 3. Your rights (DPDP Act, 2023)
India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 gives you the right to know what personal data we hold about you, and to ask for correction or erasure. For fron.in that realistically means submission data, since analytics data is aggregate and held by Google. To exercise any of these rights, or to raise a grievance about how your data was handled, write to the operator of fron.in via the submission form. We respond within a reasonable period.
That is the full list. If we start collecting anything new, this page changes first. See also our terms and disclaimer.
